Angels of Reality Club Hawaii: Amelie’s First Sample

Inspecting your first samples is always a major moment of truth for a designer.  It’s when all the design elements come together to create a single design.  This spring, I had the pleasure of working with Amelie to launch her fashion career all in front of a camera for the French reality TV show, Angels of Reality.  Over the course of the show, my team and I helped her design and develop her infant boy label’s first sample, complete with brand name and logo!  In this episode, she reviews her first sample and has a photo shoot in preparation for marketing her label.  If you don’t want to watch the entire episode, you can skip to 6:30 and 10:27 for the scenes with Amelie.  Big mahalo to Jenna Clark from Creatix Photography for working with us on this fun project!

Amelie really impressed me with her design, and it’s no surprise that it’s adorable given that her brand is inspired by her precious baby Hugo!  J’adore! It’s a bit hard to see the design in the video, so here are a few images for your viewing pleasure…

It may be a bit difficult for me to follow Amelie’s fashion path, but I expect some cool things in her future!

Island Girl

Living in Waikiki is great.  Travel to a nice restaurant is as complicated as a short walk, the beaches in the area are superb (albeit superbly busy), and it’s filled with happy people!

Waikiki is also the land of ABC Stores.  I have to admit, I’m a fan of ABC Stores… its where I go to satisfy my late night dark chocolate cravings, grab a bottled water before a day at the beach, and buy fun nail color.  Huh?  Yep, that’s right!  The Island Girl cosmetic line, which I’ve only seen at ABC Stores, has super cute colors for $2.99 each.  Use a high quality base and top coat brand and it’s worth a shot to try some of their fun colors…

The Fresh Eats of Napa Valley

Napa isn’t just about enormous California wines, it’s also about mouth-watering and fresh farm-to-table dining.  On a recent trip to Napa, we not only had lots of wine, but we ate, and ate, and ate…

Having indulged in Redd’s pizza for lunch before, it’s no wonder the owners were inspired to open a “pizza only” joint called Redd Wood, also in Yountville.  We learned that Redd pulled pizza from their menu entirely so you have to get it at Redd Wood.  Our group ordered prosciutto and arugula pizza and a simply divine anchovy pizza. The pizzas and decor both reflected Napa’s fresh style.

For dinner, we lucked out and got to enjoy Ad Hoc’s famous buttermilk fried chicken.  Ad Hoc posts a daily singular fixed menu, so the kitchen is focused on making that one meal spectacular.
